My computer is such a bastard. We actually get a program on to it that works beautifully and doesn't expose us to all the shit on the internet, and it now refuses to open. My computer murdered Firefox. Now I'm stuck using what is quite possibly the dumbest browser EVAR (MSN Explorer). The writing is all so tiny, it burns my eyes :(

Anyway..yesterday was Easter Seals Telethon day. I was afraid they were going to put me on the phones taking donations, because I'm most definitely not a phone person. But they put us into the Kids Party room, which was infinitely better..it was just one of the CBC studios set up with a stage for the performers, and a bunch of different activity tables for the kids. My mom and I got the Arts and Crafts table, which kicked ass :). We basically just stood around and supervised the kids as they arted.

And then Al the evil floor manager guy came over and made us bring out the bubbles.

He had brought these bubble wand things; y'know, the ones you dip in bubble solution and then wave around, and it produces these massive bubbles. He also brought those Touch-A-Bubble things, which are pretty neat, except when they land, they wrinkle and shrivel into these gross little piles of goo. It was all strictly photo-op stuff; he'd bring a few of the disabled kids over, hand them some bubbles, and then film them while one of the Telethon hosts would stand there and talk. Not a big problem, except it was incredibly messy..I now know why my mother didn't buy us a lot of bubbles when we were kids. I'm not complaining, because it was fun, but I had to sit there holding two or three tubes of bubble solution, while the kids dipped it in (splashing a lot of it in my eyes and all over my clothes, in the process), and then waved these huge bubbles, which usually ended up in my face. Not to mention the touch-a-bubbles which ended up in my hair. Some kids were cool about it, but every now and then there was the bratty kid who wouldn't share with anyone else, and who wouldn't listen when we told him to stay on the carpet, and would poke other kids in the eye. Every time we tried to put the bubbles away and hide them, another kid would come over and notice the wands sticking out from under the table, and the process would begin anew. I had to wash my hands about fifty times. I never want to see another bubble as long as I live.

But like I said, it was fun, we were in the studio with all the performers, so we got to see it all. It wasn't hugely exciting, just some stars of kids shows from CBC (weird freaks in bright clothes, strange wigs, and hideous makeup), plus the cast of Mamma Mia (omg Abba songs x_X), plus some highland dancers, plus Robert Munsch (my mom told me a funny story about how I went to one of his book-signings when I was four, and he asked me to spell my name, and I just looked at him. So my mom started to spell it for me, and he got all snippy with her. She's so bitter about it :P), plus others I can't remember. I was kind of hoping to see Pinball Clemmens, because he's apparently really cool, but he was at the Super Bowl. Football, feh. I drew a picture of a parrot, and they put it on one of the boards, so it may have gotten on TV (that was about as close to television exposure as I got; I was going to be in one of the bubble shots, but I chickened out). Oh, and lots of cute kids :)

Fun day, overall, maybe I'll do it again next year.

I gave myself nightmares by looking at a photo of camel spiders.
-I have never owned a CD in my lifetime.
-I used to REALLY like the Spice Girls, and attended more than one "dress like your favourite Spice Girl" party in my lifetime. I was almost always Sporty Spice, even though I didn't like her anyway.
-In 6th grade, I found a picture of a Furby in a Sears catalogue, and instantly wanted one. Problem was, a few months later, everyone else wanted one too, so I never got one. The next year, someone mentioned Furby's, and my friend asked, "didn't you REALLY want one of those?". I totally denied it, because it was embarassing.
-I bite my nails. And I pull out my hair constantly. My mom thinks it's a compulsion and needs to be diagnosed or something. Ah, mothers.
-I haven't been to school in three weeks. To be fair, one of those weeks has been Christmas vacation.
-I watch CSI almost every day (twice if I can wrangle it), and in doing so, I've garnered an unhealthy obsession with Greg.
-Continuing the theme of stupid celebrity crushes, I've had a thing for Jimmy Fallon since 8th grade.
-I'm allergic to penicillin. Supposedly.
-I swear. Fuckin' constantly :P. It really bugs my dad.
-Spongebob Squarepants is my favourite show. Seriously.
-I get sandwiches with tomatoes on them, and then take the tomatoes off before I eat the sandwich, because I like the "tomato essence".
-I got slightly drunk with two girls I hardly knew once, and we went and bought a cake. I don't remember if we ate it or not.
-I used to be a mod on the Mugglenet IRC channel, but I just stopped showing up one day.
-I was once told I should be a lawyer because I talked too much, so for the next three or so years, I actually DID want to become a lawyer. And then it became something stupid like a lawyer who is also a writer on weekends.
-I named my cat after a friends character on some stupid little wolf RPG I used to play a few years ago.
-I rarely ever use my email, and I create a new address almost every year.
-I could cereal for every meal of the day, but for some reason, we rarely ever have any.
-I've seen the Jackass movie about a dozen times, and I NEVER get tired of it.

Voila!
Hurrah, Christmas.

I didn't get a whole lot (comparatively; it looks like a big list, but it's really not), but it's Christmas, so no complaints.

-Bunch of clothes
-Annual toiletries from my grandmother
-Another matching hat/glove/scarf set to add to my growing collection :P
-Obligatory Lord of the Rings DVD (seriously, did anyone NOT get this?)
-CD player
-Shitload of stuff from the Body Shop (mango-y)
-More pajama pants, which I always seem to need for some reason
-A big plasticy not-a-purse (but it looks a lot like a purse) for putting aforementioned toiletries into
-Moneys
-SOCKS!
-A watch which I'm going to end up losing (I always do)
-And Fable, which is one of the most bizarre games I have ever played..I mean, farting at people to freak them out is cool and all, but wtf? Still, it's amazingly good fun thusfar, if only the Xbox would stop being such a Grinch (HAWHAW CHRISTMAS REFERENCE GET IT?!) and work properly before I take a hammer to it.

Oh, and Billy Talent focking rools.

Sometime over the last week, they got a Trumpeter Swan in at work. And holy shit is this thing massive. I only got to see him lying down, but this is the biggest effin' bird I have ever seen (one of the supervisors, who is about 6'4, said he's about the size of a small ostrich. Yipes). Gorgeous, of course, but very very big. Not something I'd want to mess with, although he's apparently very docile and friendly. I just want to hear him trumpet :)
Enough fawning over big birds.

It's really cold. Really.

And either the wind is blowing really hard, or there's a ghost in my house. liekomgghost

Letter from Truth to Mercy about Regret

To thine own eyes, Prophet of Mercy

I hope this finds you well. My sorrow and anger precede me with regard to the atrocity and heresy at Halo. We shall avenge this destruction with some of our own. Work proceeds on our battle plan. The Sangheili will do what is asked of them, and the Jiralhanae will show the humans what our strength looks like at close quarters.
But this message concerns neither the planning nor the discovery of the Human homeworld. Rather I question Brother Regrets suitability for this great proposal.
I am aware of his tenacity and ambition, but I believe his youth and reckless reaching may prove to be grave risks to the perfection of this undertaking. You have noted his rashness in the past, and yet neither of us has acted.
I suggest that we continue as planned, but we would both do well to pay mind to Brother Regret, and provide wisdom and guidance as needed. This matter is too important to be left to inexperienced hands. Piety is no substitute for wisdom.
Perhaps I worry too much. You know that I embrace caution, but we cannot have inexperience or arrogance at this great juncture.

Be pure, be vigilant, and never rest.
By my own hand,
Prophet of Truth

P splhk 0vvlnhnt-lsl!
...
...
P h7 sB0h h lvslr :P
